Digital placemaking project

We're commissioning artwork by First Nations artists to be displayed on digital screens in our library spaces.

Calls for expressions of interest

The University of Sydney Libraries will be undertaking a project in 2020 to develop and install digital placemaking signage across our sites to promote awareness of the sites’ First Nations cultural and historical context.

If you’re a First Nations artist, we’re seeking an expression of interest from you to create to create commissioned artworks to be displayed in our library spaces. Your art will incorporate an Acknowledgement of Country and provide cultural and historical context for the physical library sites.

Submit your expression of interest before 5 August, 2020

The ‘Expressions of Interest document’ contains the full artwork scope and specifications, key elements, timelines and terms and conditions.

Please Note: The Expressions of Interest document contains the old submission deadline. The deadline for submitting an expression of interest has been extended until 5 August, 2020

To express your interest, please view the Expressions of Interest document.

About the project

The University of Sydney Library has prioritised a 2020 strategic program focusing on diversity and inclusion. This includes significant work being undertaken to improve culturally competent practice at the Library, and to enhance the cultural awareness of our staff and clients in relation to our First Nations cultural heritage. As part of this program, the Library has been awarded a Wingara Mura grant by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Indigenous Strategy and Services for the development of this project.
