New Library Services Platform

The new Library Search portal and Library Services Platform is now live.

Project Overview

From January 2019, University of Sydney Library clients will be able to use a new Library Services Platform. The single interface will replace CrossSearch, the Catalogue and MyLoans, providing a one-stop search tool for research, teaching and learning that will enable user-friendly searching and requesting of library resources.

Status updates

The new service went live on January 8, 2019.

Access to CrossSearch, the catalogue and MyLoans is no longer available.

Drop in sessions are available for interested staff and students to see the new Library Search portal and ask questions:

Need to know

What does this mean for you?

Searching

A new single portal provides search and discovery for all Library collections. A separate, traditional library catalogue isn't part of the new system.

My account

Some information from MyLoans, including current loans, has been carried over to the new system, My account however some information hasn't:

  • Reading (Borrowing) History – will not be available after December 30, 2018.
  • MyLoans feeds
  • Requests for items on loan or held at another campus – Requests not filled or requests made after 16 December in the old system haven't been migrated. You will be able to place requests again starting 8 January 2019.
  • Holds – if you have a hold ready for pick up, you will have until your usual expiry date to pick it up.

Unit of study readings (eReserve)

eReserve links to Library content have been migrated to the new system. If there is an issue with your Unit of Study readings, please contact the Library.

Library mobile app

The app is currently being redeveloped to integrate with the new Library Services Platform and get an updated look and feel too. The updated app will be ready by February. If you have the current app installed, you’ll experience reduced functionality in relation to loans and access to our previous CrossSearch and Catalogue platforms and a few out of date links. You would still be able to use other functionality of the app, such as opening hours and Book a study space.

When the new app is ready, you’ll receive a push notification message from the Library asking you to update the app.

Milestones

Library staff have been working hard to get the new integrated search interface and platform ready to go.
