EOI now open for Indigenous student led events
The Library is launching a new initiative for semester 2 entitled Come share your voice in the Library. This program invites Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to deliver a one-off program sharing their cultural knowledges, practices and/or research interests with fellow students, hosted at the Library.
Students must be enrolled at the University of Sydney, and are welcome to propose any topics. This may be of particular interest to students who are artists, weavers, cultural facilitators, researchers and/or any who are passionate about specific Indigenous topics, films, books or movies. The Library can also work with students to develop their ideas.
There are 4 spaces available for the program. Applicants will be chosen in consultation with Library staff and Indigenous staff across the University.
- Payment: Students will be compensated for their events and time commitments with a $300 giftcard.
- Time commitment: Students will be asked to run an event between 45mins-2hrs depending on the style of the event. The chosen students will also need to allow preparation time for their event.
- Time frame: Students will place their preferences across the semester between week 3 – week 13 of Semester Two. Students will be contacted with their preferred dates and times.
- Location: Events will take place in Fisher Library, Camperdown Campus, University of Sydney. For students who are studying remotely and are interested in an online session, please contact the Library's Indigenous Engagement Officer, Pippa Herden directly (details below).
- Examples of programs: artist workshop, weaving workshop, a talk on a research and/or cultural topic, your personal story, a favourite First Nations books, film or music.
Resources: Students are required to provide all of their own materials and equipment for their nominated event. The Library will provide the space, furniture, and tea and coffee.
