A new look for the Library catalogue

In early December, the Library will launch a new catalogue interface.

Part of a developer-led platform upgrade, this interface will provide a more modern, intuitive and accessible search experience, making it easier to discover articles, books, databases and other Library resources. The existing discovery content and core functionality will be retained.

While the appearance of the catalogue will change, the key search and Library account features you use every day will remain familiar. The Library has been preparing for the transition to help ensure a smooth experience for our University community.

Key changes include:

  • Updated searching and navigation: a refreshed layout makes it easier to search, filter and navigate your search results.
  • Centralised user area: access saved records, search history and Library account information in one place.
  • Updated Advanced Search: new streamlined design makes it easier to build and refine searches.
  • Enhanced Journal Search: autocomplete suggestions help you find journal titles faster.
  • Responsive design: the interface adapts to different screen sizes and devices, including desktop and mobile.

Next steps

The upgrade will be applied automatically in December, and you can continue using the Library catalogue as usual. Your saved searches, records and Library account information will remain available after the upgrade. Simply look out for the updated interface when you visit the catalogue during December or in the new year.

To help you get started, we have created a short video introducing the new interface and highlighting some key features. Whether you're a new or experienced catalogue user, we encourage you to take a few minutes to explore the video before the upgrade goes live.
