Module 2 - Understanding your reading list

On completion of this module, you will be able to:

  • distinguish between the different types of references (also known as citations or sources) on a reading list.

Your lecturer will often provide a list of readings (sometimes called a bibliography) that you will be expected to read.

References may be books, chapters of books, journal articles, newspaper articles, government reports, papers from conferences or even websites.

It is important that you can identify the different reference types so that you can find them in the Library catalogue or Search on the library homepage.
