Requests and recalls

You may request a book if it is out on loan. You may get a recall of an item that you've borrowed, if someone else has requested it
Requesting an item that is on loan to someone else

  1. Click on the Request button located at the top or bottom of the screen
  2. Enter your Unikey and password or your name and borrowers number
  3. Choose a library to collect the item from. If you do not choose a library your request will not be successful
  4. Click on the circle button next to the item you want
  5. Click on the REQUEST SELECTED ITEM button
  6. You will receive the message: Your request for this item has been sent to the library
  7. To see when the item is available for pickup, or to cancel your request, you can go to MyLoans.

Requesting something from another campus or from storage
  • Books from another campus are available only to students and staff if no copies are available at your campus
  • Items held in Storage are available to all University of Sydney Library card holders
  • Request books via Request in the catalogue
  • Request journal articles via MyLoans Login
  • Journal articles from another campus are available to postgraduate students and staff only.
Requesting from Rare Books and Special Collections (RSBC)

The Rare Books Special Collections Reading Room on Level 1 of Fisher Library is open 9:30am – 4:30pm Monday – Friday, excluding public holidays.

To access material in the Reading Room, please make a booking using this form

  • If you submit this form before 4pm, the material will be accessible from 9:30am the next day, provided they are available
  • If you submit the form after 4pm, please allow an extra working day
  • If you are unsure of what you are looking for, please contact us with information on your research, and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
