Metrics and impact

Increase the impact of your dataset

The use of your data can be tracked using various metrics which can assist in measuring impact, and can differ depending on how and where your data is published. These include:

  • the number of times your data has been cited
  • the number of views and downloads of your dataset
  • how often your data has been shared or discussed on social media

Making your data openly available and applying an appropriate licence can increase the impact of your data by making it easier to find and re-use. For more information on metrics and citations, including altmetrics, contact your Academic Liaison Librarian or check the Research impact guide.
