The Library aims to provide and maintain unique materials by capturing valuable physical collection items in a digital format, both to preserve the integrity of the analogue item and make available digital derivatives. In tandem with the Digital Scholarship Studio, the Library provides digitisation services for the University of Sydney community to further its research and education goals and to promote new forms of material usage and digital scholarship.

We offer:

  • Specialised scanning services

  • Optical character recognition

  • Formatting and file size optimisation

The equipment we use includes:

  • The Bookeye 3 overhead book scanner for digitising large format manuscripts and material up to A1 size

  • The Treventus ScanRobot 2.0 for digitising smaller bound manuscripts

  • MakerBot 3D printer
