Searching for curriculum resources in our collection
Use the Library catalogue to enter keywords on your topic in the Advanced Search form.
Example 1
- First search line: friend* AND
- Second search line: “juvenile literature” OR “juvenile fiction”
- You can filter by material type, date range, etc.
- To find physical items, you can also filter by Location: Fisher and/or Location: Curriculum general. The call number in the record tells you where to find the item in the Fisher or Curriculum collections. In addition, materials in the Curriculum collection have a special sticker on their spine to identify them from the rest of the Fisher collection.
Example 2
Instead of using by Any Field search by Subject Headings. Useful subject headings in our collection include
- Children's Stories
- Readers (Primary)
- Picture books for children
- Young adult fiction
- Juvenile fiction
- Children's literature -- Australia
- Fantasy fiction
- Science fiction
- Teenagers -- books and reading
Then apply material type or location limits as in example 1.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander materials in the Curriculum collection are interfiled
Alternative sources for curriculum resources
- Resources for professional placements such as Scootle and MERLOT
- Professional Associations: such as the Australian Curriculum Studies Association or NSW Teachers Federation
- Research and Advocacy Organisations: for example the Australian Council for Educational Research has a searchable Database of Research on International Education.
- Government Departments and Agencies such as the NSW Department of Education or Education Services Australia.
- International Organisations: for example UNESCO provides global and regional leadership in education.
- Research Databases: Academic databases such as ERIC, A+ Education, Education Source, and VOCED. See also Story Box Library for literacy skills development in children. And see PsychINFO and MedLine for psychology and health related resources for education respectively.
- Education Journals and Publications: Many journals focus exclusively on education issues and publish research and analysis. Access these through the Library catalogue or online databases.
- Media and News Services: Factiva, ProQuest NewStream (current news coverage), TVNews via Informit (news, current affairs programs, selected documentaries).
