Accessing items from your Reading List

Locate your readings

You can find a link called ‘Reading List’ in the navigation pane to the left of your unit of study’s Canvas site.

In the Reading List tool you can see a list of items.

Click on the item title to find out more information. Online items can be accessed by clicking the link. Physical items can be found at the Library location listed. 

• Required items are an essential part of your course material.
• Recommended items can provide additional information and context to the course material. 

Borrow required texts 

Required items that are not available online can be found in the Library’s Short Loan collection. 

Troubleshooting

I can’t access my readings

Test the following: 

1. Clear cookies and cache. 
2. Check the browser is up to date or try a different browser. 
3. If it’s your first time accessing the list, use the Reading List link from the Canvas page. The URL should start with https://canvas.sydney.edu.au. 
4. Check you have verified access through Okta.
5. Check that the computer is connected to the University of Sydney VPN.
6. Check your enrolment status in Sydney Student.
7. Check with your lecturer. Some lecturers may not use the Reading List function in Canvas and may share a list using other methods.  

Mark a link as broken

If a link is not working, mark the link as broken and we will investigate.
