Copyright guidance for uploading files to Reading Lists
Options for copyright information
When you upload a file to your Reading List, you'll be asked to select an option for copyright information.
Select the most appropriate option to help the Library assess copyright requirements and make your reading available to students as quickly as possible.
Option 1: Please check the copyright status of this file for me
Choose this option if:
you did not create the work
you downloaded the file from a database, publisher or website
the file was supplied by someone else and the source is unclear
the work contains third-party content such as images, figures, tables or substantial extracts
the material may be covered by a Creative Commons or other licence
you are unsure whether the amount being copied is permitted under copyright.
Only complete these fields:
Either Chapters (for chapters) or Pages from and Pages to (for page ranges).
Include images – tick this option if attachment contains images, figures, tables or other visual content.
Leave all other fields unchanged.
Option 2: Copyright belongs to myself or the University of Sydney
Choose this option if:
you created the work and retained the copyright
the University of Sydney owns the copyright, such as University-owned teaching materials or learning resources
you are uploading a version of your own research publication that your publisher allows you to share, such as a pre-print or accepted manuscript.
